Taiwanese weightlifter Chen Guan-ling made a significant mark at the World Weightlifting Championships held in Ningbo, China, by clinching two silver medals and one bronze in the women’s 57kg category. The 21-year-old athlete demonstrated exceptional skill in the clean and jerk, successfully lifting weights of 117kg, 119kg, and 125kg. Her impressive lift of 125kg earned her a silver medal in this discipline, while her combined total of 215kg secured her another silver. Additionally, Chen claimed a bronze medal in the snatch category.
This achievement builds upon her previous success at the 2024 World Weightlifting Championships, where she won one silver and two bronze medals. Earlier this year, she also took home a bronze in the women’s 57kg category at the Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, highlighting her consistent performance on the international stage.
The World Weightlifting Championships, which continue until November 8, play a crucial role in accumulating qualification points for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. However, it is noteworthy that the women’s 57kg category is not part of the Olympic weightlifting program, which features a total of six different weight classes.
