The Philippines has announced an extension of its visa-free entry program for travelers from Taiwan, allowing them to visit the country without a visa for up to 14 days until June 30 of the following year. This initiative, originally introduced last year, is part of an ongoing effort to boost tourism and enhance cultural exchanges between the two nations. For those intending to stay beyond the two-week period, a visa application will still be necessary prior to arrival.
This policy extension aligns with the Philippine government’s strategy of maintaining reciprocal visa arrangements, as Taiwan similarly grants visa-free access to Philippine passport holders. By continuing this mutual agreement, both countries aim to foster closer ties and increase the flow of tourists back and forth.
In addition to maintaining visa-free travel, the Philippines is actively working to attract more visitors from Taiwan by increasing flight connectivity and promoting a wider array of travel destinations. While popular spots like Palawan remain a major draw, efforts are underway to showcase lesser-known regions and diverse travel experiences across the archipelago.
Tourism statistics highlight Taiwan’s significant contribution to the Philippine tourism industry, with nearly 94,000 Taiwanese tourists visiting the Philippines in the first five months of the year. This figure marks an increase compared to the same timeframe in the previous year, positioning Taiwan as one of the top sources of international visitors to the country.
