Taiwan and Thailand are increasing their collaboration in the field of smart agriculture, with a significant emphasis on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and promoting low-carbon farming practices. This initiative aims to modernize agricultural production through advanced technologies and enhance their agricultural sectors.
A delegation of Taiwanese experts from government, industry, academia, and research institutions recently visited various locations in Thailand, including Bangkok, Chiang Rai, and Chiang Mai. The purpose of these visits was to engage in discussions with Thai officials and research entities about the implementation and potential of AI in agriculture. The collaborative discussions focused on smart-farming technologies, the importance of public-private partnerships, and strategies for adopting low-carbon agricultural practices.
During their visit, the Taiwanese delegation explored farms and agricultural organizations in Thailand that are already employing smart-farming techniques. These included initiatives in organic tea production and environmentally conscious banana cultivation. At Maejo University, discussions highlighted the need for agricultural engineering, adapting technology to local conditions, and developing skilled professionals to drive the sector forward.
